At age 45, I began perimenopause: night sweats, anxiety around everyday tasks, a surge of anger, bloating—and unexpected skin breakouts. My doctor dismissed it as burnout or depression, but I knew something else was happening—I felt like a different person.
As a researcher by nature, I dug in. I learned that most women begin perimenopause around age 43; I investigated the flood of symptoms and how long it often takes to get help. I studied the science behind lifestyle, medical options, and mindset shifts that support menopause well-being.
A trip to my local health store quite simply made me angry! The products there were outdated, weak, or poorly dosed, offering little distinction for our changing biology.
I wanted clinically meaningful ingredients, effective dosages, transparency, and honest results—without the “one-size-fits-all” pitch.
From kitchen experiment to community brand
In early 2019, I started in my kitchen—dehydrating fruits and vegetables, creating a powder that delivered the nutrients my body craved. I layered it with evidence-based lifestyle changes. I began to feel normal again.
I collaborated with both medical doctors and naturopaths, ran community-based trials, and explored the impact of hormone replacement therapy / MHT combined with careful supplementation. I spoke with experts across fields—CBT therapists, breathwork facilitators, career coaches—and gradually, MPOWDER took shape. Today, it is a brand and community co-creating products and programs to support mind and body during menopause and beyond.
Why midlife is still misunderstood
Menopause research is underfunded globally: in the U.S., reproductive health receives only a fraction of total research investment. Medical training in menopause is minimal, and many women seeking help are dismissed and left to self-medicate.
This gap leads to a market crowded with low-quality products. Meaningful solutions often fly under the radar—niche brands, dedicated practitioners, community-first approaches, and traditional therapies that truly work.
Women need to demand change—research, education, clinical choice. And they also need to tap into one another’s experiences and embrace holistic, body-and-mind care.
What MPOWDER is here to do
Our mission is to build products and programs rooted in the lived experiences and needs of our community.
About 60% of our members use our blends alongside hormone replacement therapy / MHT; others rely on our supplements as foundational support in conjunction with mindfulness, nutrition, or therapy. Every woman’s menopause journey is unique—we’re here for all of them.
We partner with our community to develop expert-led programs, explore impactful lifestyle shifts, and continuously iterate. Our goal: to reframe menopause, support healing, and unleash the power of this life stage.
